I was contacted by the DLA (Dental Laboratories Association) to help them find solutions for all dental laboratories in the UK for the logistics problems we are all facing, in one instance I automatically assumed it was only us that was having this problem from feedback from practices.
We have now partnered with Royal Mail and have a business account and have invested in a service called ‘Track 24’: “Royal Mail Tracked 24 promises delivery of a parcel or letter by the end of the next business day, with real-time tracking up to the delivery point.”. We still operate a local collection and delivery service by car, TFL (Transport for London- tube, train and bus) and DPD couriers. If the local collection is not working for your practice you might want to try this service instead and you will be in charge of collections from your practice.
How it works is simple, fill in the form on our website, input your details, print the label and drop it off at the post office or ask for them to collect from the practice at your convenience. Once collected from Royal Mail (Usually between 3 – 4pm) the package is tracked with a unique code and sent directly to the dental laboratory within 24 hours.

We choose Royal Mail as they have the largest logistics network in the UK, they operate 6 days a week and work through the night with a traceability. We have trialled this for a month and it seems to be operating very well even with the strikes taking place.
