'Porcelain Bonded Crowns' still offer a gold standard in fixed restorative dentistry for single unit cases to full arch bridge cases and is a cost effective alternative to all ceramic solutions. Porcelain bonded crowns are biocompatible and can range from single units to full arch bridges (long span and short) and is routinely used in restorative cases that involve implants.
All porcelain bonded crowns have a metal substructure with layered ceramic. The metal substructure can be made with either non precious, semi precious or precious alloys which bonds together with our layered ceramic to provide functional and aesthetically pleasing restorations that last.
We train all our technicians in-house on the PTC system to quality control our crown & bridge standard. The PTC system ensures consistent results and defines parameters in aesthetics, occlusion, function, fit , margins and contact areas with every case quality controlled from impression to the final restoration.
Technical features:
All porcelain bonded crowns have metal substructures that are opaqued with the correct shade to stop any traces of metal showing through the ceramic. The ceramic is layered on top of the metal substructure and is fused to the opqaued metal substructure in a ceramic furnace. An inter occulsal space of 1.5mm to 3mm is recommend to allow enough space for the metal substructure and layered ceramic without damaging the flexural strength of the crown under mastication. If there is not enough space for layered ceramic an occulsal metal island may be used.
'Porcelain Shoulder Margins' are used for the aesthetically concerned patient to mask metal at the margins of the PBC. Special effects and textures can also be added to provide a aesthetically pleasing crown with staining to provide a natural, realistic porcelain bonded crown.
