Digital Dentures, 3D Printed, Lucitone Digital Print Denture ™ | Bremadent Dental Laboratory in London
At Bremadent Dental Laboratory we are now offering digital dentures, via the Lucitone Digital Print Denture™ system by Dentsply Sirona, that ensures optimal fit, function and comfort for the patient whilst providing a future proofed digital denture, with high aesthetics and strength that is CAD designed and 3D printed in a quality controlled environment.
Our prosthetics department is run by our Clinical Dental Technician Kash Qureshi who also runs the Swissedent Denture Clinic to treat patients for dentures. Kash has an understanding of the clinical and technical aspect of prosthetics by dealing with over 400+ denture related cases weekly and can communicate jargon free clinical support throughout.
The Lucitone Digital Print Denture™ system is CAD designed and 3D printed via the Lucitone digital print denture base material and Lucitone IPN 3D premium teeth material by Dentsply Sirona, the first high-impact BAM (Body activated material) smart polymer technology.
The definition of body-activated material states that it will double its resistance to fracturing upon reaching body temperature which has been proven by independent studies. The amplified material properties resist breakage and prevent the worsening of any existing cracks or fractures.
Lucitone Digital Print Denture™ system can be used alongside traditional methods (impressions, bite rims etc) and digital methods (I/O scans from any intra oral scanner) with the end result achieved as a 3D printed denture.
Benefits of Lucitone 3D print denture base material:
• 3D printed, consistently controlled via curing machines
• Minimum to none expansion rate
• High impact BAM (body-activated material)
• Exceeds ISO high impact & flexural strength standards
• Available in 5 Lucitone gingiva shades
• Colour stability of gingiva with no perceptible colour change
• Can be repaired and relined in the future
• Strong chemical bond with Lucitone IPN teeth
Benefits of Lucitone IPN 3D print teeth material:
• 3D printed, consistently controlled via curing machines
• Minimum to none expansion rate
• High wear resistance
• Aesthetics with a highly characterised (HC) and translucent detail
• Available in 16 A-D shades, plus two bleach shades
• Colour stability of IPN teeth with no perceptible colour change
• Strong chemical bond with Lucitone deture base
Benefits of Lucitone Digital Print Denture™:
• 3D cad designed and 3D printed that utilises both traditional and digital workflows
• The material is controlled to ensure chemical and mechanical properties are maximised consistently with minimum to none expansion rate, via light curing machines and wash/dry cycles
• The colour stability of both the denture base and IPN teeth maintains it’s colour /shade without discolouration and shows no perceptible colour change
• This provides optimum fitting dentures with increased retention and stability over traditional acrylic dentures
• The denture base and IPN teeth are 3D printed separately and are chemically bonded together to make all cohesive fractures between the teeth and denture base with minimum to none de bonding
• Future proofed with re-printing new dentures based on the existing parameters or modifying the parameters (e.g new fit surface), copy existing dentures, print a security backup set, repair and reline if needed.
Lucitone Digital Print Denture™ workflow:
Lucitone Digital Print Denture™ can be used in a traditional work flow with physical impressions and bite registrations rims, digitally via intra oral scans or the patients existing denture. We can modify the existing denture with a new fit surface, modify aesthetics and restore occulsal function if required.
The dentures are CAD designed within the parameters of the bite registrations and impressions of the anatomical landmarks. We design the denture based based on the parameters of the anatomical landmarks of the impressions or I/O scan and separately design the teeth, with the aesthetics and function based on the parameters of the bite registration.
Once the CAD designed digital denture has been approved we can either 3D print a tryin or go straight to finish, as both teeth and the denture based are printed separately, a chemical bond process is the .stl files can be retained for future 3D printing or a backup security set without having to go through all of the stages again depending on type of modification that is required e.g new fit surface that would need an imp wash.
How it works (2 – 3 appointments), New dentures:
1. Take a primary impression or I/O scan (Primescan)
2. RX for a S/T (depending on quality of impression) and bite registration
3. Take a bite registration with the following parameters
Centre line, canine line, high (How much tooth is shown when the patient smiles) / low (How much incisal edge is shown when the patient rest their lips) lip line
Frontal and occulsal plane
Register the jaw relationship and OVD
Take a Vita Shade
4. Send this back to Bremadent
5. A CAD denture will be designed based on the bite registration parameters and the impressions . We can 3D print a tryin or go straight to finish
6. The .stl files can be retained for future 3D prints or for a backup security set
Method 2 (1 – 2 appointments), Copy denture, patient existing dentures:
1. Take an imp wash inside patients existing dentures
2. I/O scan all surface of the denture including fit surface (or send to Bremadent for us to scan)
3. RX any changes in tooth set up (e.g the paitent would like more tooth to be shown) or denture base changes (e.g extend to retromolar pad)
4. A CAD denture will be designed based on the parameters and the impression. We can 3D print a tryin or go straight to finish.
5. The .stl files can be retained for future 3D prints or for a backup security set
Clinical indications
Full dentures, single arch dentures, partial dentures, copy dentures, try in dentures and implant over dentures.
Technical features of Lucitone digital print denture base:
